Big Dig Company Eyed For Major MA Bridge Project
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
A company blamed for so much of the mismanagement of the
Big Dig could be getting another big contract.
The Boston Herald reports that the state is talking to Parsons-Brinckerhoff to help re-design the Whittier Bridge in Amesbury.
That bridge has been labeled "structurally deficient," and is in serious need of repair. The cost to fix the bridge, according to the Herald, will cost about $300 million. "This is incredible," Sen. Mark Montigny (D-New Bedford) told the paper. "The taxpayer and tollpayer should be insulted by this continued pouring salt on the wound. They should not be doing business in Massachusetts."
Parsons is the company that oversaw the design and construction of the Big Dig and
paid millions in a settlement relating to the deadly tunnel collapse in 2006.
