Ken Barlow
Ken Barlow is Chief Meteorologist for Boston's WBZ-TV News. As Chief Meteorologist, Barlow is the primary weather anchor on WBZ-TV News at 5PM, 6PM, and 11PM with weather field anchor, Mish Michaels.
A native New Englander originally from Newport, Rhode Island, Ken brings more than twenty years of experience to WBZ-TV where he joined from KARE 11 (NBC) in Minneapolis/St. Paul. While at KARE, Ken was Chief Meteorologist on the market's #1-rated 5PM, 6PM and 10PM newscasts. Before joining KARE 11 in 1990, Ken was a Meteorologist in Bangor, ME at WLBZ-TV/channel 2 (NBC). He began his career as a meteorologist at FleetWeather, a weather service in Hopewell Junction, NY.
About joining WBZ-TV as Chief Meteorologist, Ken said: "When my family and I decided to move home, I could never have imagined that things would come together so perfectly and that I'd be joining WBZ-TV
a station I have admired for so many years. For me, the only thing better than being a meteorologist in New England (with the kind of weather we get around here), is to be moving closer to my family
plus, I get to work with Barry, Mish, Todd, and Ellen who are the best meteorologists around."
An Emmy award-winning meteorologist, Ken graduated from Plymouth State College in Plymouth, NH with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology. During his time in Minnesota, Ken was an adjunct professor in broadcast meteorology at St. Cloud State University. He currently is a member of the American Meteorological Society and has held the AMS Seal of Approval since 1988.
Ken and his wife Theresa (also from New England) have three children: Patrick, Meredith, and Caroline. In his spare time, Ken enjoys volunteering in the community and for children's charities. An accomplished marathoner and tri-athlete, Ken admits he can't wait to return to New England and the weather challenges in the region.
Boston's WBZ-TV and TV38 are part of CBS Television Stations, a division of CBS Corporation.
