Tune Nips Biktimirova In Women's Marathon Thriller

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Dire Tune of Ethiopia edged out Alevtina Biktimirova of Russia to win the women's division of the Boston Marathon in one of the most exciting finishes in the race's 112-year history.

Tune and Biktimirova ran neck-and-neck for the last several miles and twice exchanged leads in the final moments of the race before Tune used a strong closing kick to win by two seconds. 

Tune's unofficial time was 2:25:25. 

It was closest finish in the history of the women's race

Tune and Robert Cheruiyot of Kenya each earned $150,000 -- a record level in the majors, which include London, Chicago, Berlin and New York City.
