The Boston Marathon is a long, grueling 26.2 mile run, and preparation has a lot to do with performance.
This week the John Hancock Conference Center has been converted into the John Hancock Elite Village. U.S. elite runner Ryan Hall says the treatment is first class from the moment he landed in Boston from Los Angeles.
"We just walked in, and it's been great. We got picked up at the airport. I'm going to get a massage. It's really first class," Hall says.
John Hancock is sponsoring 29 elite runners from all over the world. Over the next four days wherever these runners go they are escorted by a host.
"It's about excellence and providing the best environment for our athletes so they can compete the best they can on Monday," John Hancock's Elite Village Debra Maxfield said.
The runners are allowed to receive massages throughout the day by professional massage therapists.
Snacks and all three meals are provided for the runners.
Fred Tresesler, who runs the operating room inside the village, says he wants his runners to have the best experience as possible.
"We want their stay to be as smooth as possible because at the end of the day only one male and one female runner will win on Monday, but we want all 29 runners to have the best performance here at the Boston Marathon."
