Boston Marathon champion Robert Cheruiyot and Olympic women's marathoner Salina Kosgei had their arms full with Boston school kids who couldn't wait to fire their questions at them.
"How many marathons have you won?" one student asked.
"I won in Milan, London and Boston four times," Cheruiyot smiled.
At the Franklin Park Zoo, the kids took part in the Kenya Project. They took pictures and mingled with the star athletes and even sang Kenyan songs.
The purpose of the Kenya project is to educate kids about the Boston Marathon and about the country of Kenya. The kids also got the chance to tour the zoo and learn about animals from Kenya.
"We said "jambo" and the silver back Gorilla came up and hit the window and we got scared," third grader Brian Edouard said.
Mayor Tom Menino also went on a tour with the kids. "Some have never been here before and it opens there eyes to a new world," Mayor Menino said.
If 30-year-old Cheruiyot wins this year, he will be the first Kenyan man to win the Boston Marathon five times and the first man in history to win four marathons in a row. "I myself I like marathons because that's been a friend of mine," Cheruiyot laughed.
