Online Holiday Sales Will Take Hit From Economy
CAMBRIDGE (WBZ) ―
It's not just brick and mortar stores that are expected to take a hit this holiday season. A new forecast from Forrester Research predicts the slowest growth ever for online holiday sales.
The predicted growth may still sound strong an expected jump of 12% to $44 billion, but that compares to 18% growth last year.
The survey found that one in three online shoppers plan to spend less this holiday season than they did last year. Online retailers are expected to make up some of that ground from traditional store shoppers hoping for web-based bargains.
Forrester also found online shoppers will be more likely to seek out sites that offer free shipping.
