Summer Puppet Shows at the Puppet Showcase Theater!

The Puppet Showcase Theater in Brookline has weekly shows though August. The theater is wheelchair accessible and located opposite the Brookline Villlage T station. New England Wild Flower Society's Wild Nights Concert!

The New England Wild Flower Society inaugurates its Wild Nights music concert series with legendary folksinger Bill Staines on the Woodland Stages at Garden in the Woods, Framingham, MA. Taking place at 6PM on August 8th, concert tickets are $17 for members and kids and $20 for nonmembers, available through WICN.org, or 508-752-0700. Guests are invited to enjoy the BIG BUGS Exhibit and take a walk around the 45-acre living museum of native plants with 1,500 species and cultivars, and over 200 rare and endangered species.

Yoga in the Park

Open Doors Power Yoga Studios will be holding a fundraiser for the Dianne Devanna Center on French's Common (next to the town hall) in Braintree. The event, "Yoga in the Park - 108 Sun Salutations" will begin at 10am and end approximately at 12:30pm. The Sun Salutations are open to everyone off all levels, including fist time students. The Sun Salutation is a challenging and enlivening experience. There will also be two sessions of kid's yoga for children, ages 5-12, at 10am and at noon both lasting for 45 minutes. A Mommy and Me Yoga session, also lasting 45 minutes will be held at 11am.
Registration for adults is $25. Kid's yoga is free for children 5-12 years-old. Donations for those not wanting to participate and can be accepted at Open Doors store in Braintree or at anyone Open Doors Power Yoga Studios. All proceeds will go to the Dianne Devanna Center. The Dianne DeVanna Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and strengthening both individual family members and the family as a whole in order to address, prevent an, eliminate child abuse and neglect.

Antique & Classical Boat Festival

Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition's Statewide Against the Tide!

The ninth annual Against the Tide one-mile recreation or competitive swim, two-mile kayak and three-mile fitness walk to benefit the Massachusetts Breast Cancer Coalition (MBCC), will be held at Nickerson State Park this summer. This fun and inspiring program brings together swimmers, kayakers, and walkers of all ages and abilities who would like to join MBCC in efforts to eradicate the breast cancer epidemic. Participants commit to raising a minimum of $150 in contributions, with all funds going directly to breast cancers prevention through advocacy, activism, research, and education. An Evening of Boundless Inspiration

An evening of music by Brandy, cocktails, dinner, and a live and silent auction. AT the Westford Regency Hotel. Cocktails from 6pm-7pm; Dinner begins at 7pm. Travis Roy, former Boston University hockey player whose tragic accident on the ice in 1995 left him paralyzed from the neck down will be guest speaker. A popular motivational speaker, Roy will be speaking about the challenges faced by young people with disabilities and their families. Proceeds from this event go to the Ronan McElligott Memorial Playground, a volunteer fundraising effort to build a Boundless Playground, a fully handicap-accessible playground in Westford, MA. Liver Life Walk for American Liver Foundation

On Sunday, September 28, over 1,000 supporters, patients and family members will walk a five-mile route in South Boston to raise awareness and funds for the American Liver Foundation (ALF). One in ten Americans has liver disease and liver cancer is the fastest growing type of cancer. Over 15,000 children in the U.S. are hospitalized every year with pediatric liver disease, while ten to 20 percent of adults have fatty liver disease, a byproduct of obesity. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. on Day Boulevard, across from Moakley Park and the walk begins at 10:15 a.m. Participants will travel a scenic route around Castle Island and enjoy post-walk refreshments.
