HD Cosmetics Deliver Flawless Results
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
High-definition television has changed the way we watch TV. Those super-detailed pictures are also changing the way celebrities prepare for shows and major events like the Academy Awards.
Make-up artist David Evangelista knows what it takes to make stars look picture perfect under the microscope of HD.
"Some of the artists I've worked with are Eva Longoria from Desperate Housewives, Becki Newton from Ugly Betty and Julia Stiles," Evangelista said.
He's used to primping celebrities for major events broadcast under the microscope of high-definition television.
"Depending on the event, it can take anywhere from an hour to three, three-and-a-half hours," he said.
It may take time but the results are a flawless face.
Now any woman can steal that professional look with special cosmetics used to keep the stars from looking overdone in high-definition.
"It was created originally for actors and actresses to be used on television," explained Allure Magazine Editor Amy Eller-Laird. "But no matter whether they're on TV or not, women want to have that kind of smooth, even complexion."
Brands like Cargo, Smashbox and Dior have all started marketing HD cosmetics. Their lines include foundation, pressed powder, even mascara and lip gloss. Another brand, Makeup Forever, actually spoke to movie producers and directors when they were creating their formulas.
Leading dermatologist Ranella Hirsch says the products work. While each formula has different ingredients, they all have one thing in common.
"They all use photochromatic pigments," she explained. "Those are pigments that react to the ambient light that you're in at any given moment."
Dr. Hirsh said the products also contain micro-fine mineral powders that can help fill in fine lines and wrinkles.
These products range in price from $20 to $75 dollars and they are available at department stores and online.
