Jordan's Offers Free Furniture With Red Sox Sweep

BOSTON (WBZ) ― The Red Sox World Series sweep in 2007 gave 24,000 fans free furniture.

"Well, guess what -- we're doing it again," Jordan's Furniture President Eliot Tatelman announced Monday - a repeat of last year's popular promotion but with a new twist.

Customers who buy certain furniture pieces in April will get refunds if the Red Sox win the 2008 World Series in a sweep.

Not all furniture items are included, just sofas, sectionals, dining room tables, beds, and mattresses. Rugs were added to this year's "sweep" theme. The promotion starts Tuesday March 25 and ends April 27.

Tatelman is once again paying an insurance company to cover the refund checks. He would not specify how much they're charging him -- but he did say the premium is double what it was last year.

"The insurance company didn't talk to me for awhile. By adding the sweeps in -- odds are better for them," he said.

The Red Sox not only swept in 2007, but also in 2004.

The percentages helped Tatelman get the insurance policy -- but he says for fans it's all about faith.

"Let's put it this way," he said. "They did it last year. Why can't they do it?"
