Learn How To Trade In Your Old Books For Cash

BOSTON (WBZ) ― If you have old books gathering dust around your house, there's an easy way to turn them into extra cash.

Kameran Austermann's home has books everywhere, and it had become a problem. "We just didn't have a lot of room to keep the books."

Kameron's mother told her about Cash4Books.net. It's a Web site that buys used books. She finds it very easy to use. She just gets on line and enters the ISBN code from the back of each book that she wants to sell. The computer quickly tells her how much each book is worth. On this day, she sold 17 books for about $40.

Shipping isn't a problem. The site automatically prints out a prepaid shipping label. Kameron just has to bring her package to the post office. "It's tough economic times and I think it's a great way to kind of clean out your own closets, recycle your books, and put a little money in your pocket."

We decided to give it a try, taking a stack of old books we found lying around. Within minutes, we had just over $14. One note of caution: the site won't take every book. We had one paperback in our pile that they were not interested in buying.

According to the website, a portion of the company's profits are funneled back into classroom projects.
