Malden Drivers See Gas Prices Below $2 A Gallon
MALDEN (WBZ) ―
Gas at prices lower than we've seen in three and a half years is what drivers are pumping in Malden.
It's the silver lining on our struggling economy. As the price of crude oil drops, so does the price of gas -- now below $2 for a gallon of "regular" at King Petroleum on Broadway Street.
"My sister already filled up right here earlier. She called me on the phone to come down here," said Junior Chery, as he filled his pick up truck.
Lines were so long, they spilled out onto the street.
"In this economy, every little bit counts. Every bit helps, especially when you have kids and a family," said George Travis, of Dracut.
The station sold so much gas, the owner had to shut down at one point because he ran out of "regular" grade.
He later re-opened to sell only "super" for $2.27 per gallon, which is still less than the state average for "regular."
