Public Hearings Held To Help With Heating Costs
BOSTON (AP) ―
A panel of Massachusetts state officials and lawmakers are holding public hearings to come up with strategies to help people deal with expected higher energy costs in the upcoming winter season.
The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs says members of the Winter Energy Costs Task Force will hold their first hearing in Springfield on Wednesday.
A second hearing is set for Fall River on Thursday. Both two-hour hearings are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
The task force is expected to present its recommendations at the end of the month.
Members of the task force were appointed by Gov. Deval Patrick, Senate President Therese Murray and House Speaker Salvatore DiMasi.
