CNET Review: Is The Blackberry Storm Worth It?
SAN FRANCISCO (KPIX) ―
The
Blackberry Storm is one of a kind. It's the first smart phone with a touch screen that feels like you're pushing real buttons when you type. "Part of the reason they did that was to differentiate themselves from the competition," said Bonnie Cha,
CNET Review Senior Editor.
But the question is, will the traditional Blackberry user the businessmen and women make the switch? "It's definitely a flashy device," explains Cha. "The screen definitely catches your eye. But if they start using it, they'll find it's very difficult to compose emails easily. They'll probably go back to the old one, the traditional Blackberry."
But that wasn't necessarily CNET's Kara Tsuboi found on the streets of San Francisco. Several people told her they would switch to the Blackberry Storm.
The phone, made by
Research in Motion, has also been long touted as the next potential iPhone killer, but don't forget that Apple fans are pretty loyal. "It's really kind of slow, and the Web browsing is not as good as the iPhone," said Cha.
Verizon did not take pre-orders for the Storm, so despite mixed reviews, several Verizon stores across the country have reportedly sold out of the phone.
The Blackberry Storm costs about $200 and requires a two-year service agreement through Verizon.
