New iPhone Announced

 CBS News Interactive: Inventing History

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS) ― Apple CEO Steve Jobs has taken the stage at the Worldwide Developer Conference 2008 Keynote to debut the new iPhone and its brand new features.

According to Apple rumor website www.macrumors.com, the new iPhone will have a thinner frame, black plastic back, solid metal buttons, same display, camera, flush headphone jack, dramatically improved audio, faster data transfer and improved tracking GPS.

Due to the high price of the previous model, many mac lovers were unable to afford the device. Apple has fixed this problem by offering its new 8 gigabyte iPhone for $199.

Apple's chief executive, Steve Jobs, has said Apple went with the slower cellular technology because the chips for 3G networks were too bulky and power-hungry when the iPhone was being designed, and because the iPhone automatically switches to faster Wi-Fi networks when they're available.
