Obsessed With Email - Even In The Bathroom!
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Our love affair with Email may be a tad out of control. According to
a new survey by AOL, Bostonians have no problem checking their inboxes from bed - or even the bathroom!
The survey found that 68 percent of Boston Email users admit checking messages from bed. Perhaps more startling, 62 percent said they have checked messages from the bathroom. For the record, that is above the national average.
One area Bostonians come in below the national average is Emailing while driving. Nationally, 50 percent of Email users said they check their messages behind the wheel. In Boston, the number is 48 percent.
Other popular spots for locals to check their inboxes: in a restaurant (76 percent), on a date (24 percent), and in church (14 percent).
Talk about replacing person-to-person communication - 15 percent of those surveyed in Boston said they have asked somebody on a date via Email, seven percent have broken up by Email, and another seven percent have quit a job by Email.
Overall the AOL survey found New York ranks first for Email addiction, Boston 16th of the 20 cities surveyed.
