Artist Featured In 'Break-Up' Is Break-In Victim

Ten Of Francine Turk's Paintings Were Stolen

CHICAGO (AP) ― Chicago artist Francine Turk says having her work featured in the Jennifer Aniston-Vincent Vaughn movie "The Break-Up" has catapulted her career.

She says the 20 paintings and sketches on the movie set have attracted lots of attention from art buyers.

That's the good news.

The bad news is that burglars have also been paying attention -- and Tuesday morning they targeted Turk's gallery in the city's South Loop neighborhood.

Ten paintings worth an estimated $35,000 were taken.

Turk says police suspect the burglars were professionals because of how fast they worked and because they only took paintings -- leaving her computer equipment untouched.

Turk hopes the pieces' appearance in the movie will make them easy to trace.
