Dennis Cole, a 70s era heart throb and one time husband to Jaclyn
Smith, and Ken Ober, host of the 80s era MTV game show "Remote
Control," which helped launch the careers of Adam Sandler and Colin
Quinn, have died.
The news follows
the death "The Equalizer" actor Edward Woodward the same week, reports CBS station KCBS-TV in Los Angeles.
Ken Ober, 52, was a consulting producer on "The New
Adventures of Old Christine," but MTV audiences recall he hosted one of
that network's first succesful series, the game show "Remote Control."
"Remote Control," which ran on MTV from 1987-89, helped launch Colin Quinn, Adam Sandler and actress Kari Wuhrer.
Dennis Cole's LA-based publicist said the actor died Sunday at a Florida hospital. Cole was 69.
His publicist said Cole was working the past few years as a real estate
agent in Fort Lauderdale. His cause of death was not immediately
released.
TV viewers who watched any 70s and 80s era drama will recall Cole as
the blond, beefcake, handsome "face" who was usually revealed to be the
unlikely bad guy in the final act. He guest starred often on such
series as "Baywatch", "Love Boat," "Fantasy Island" and "Medical
Center."
He also appeared opposite one-time wife Jaclyn Smith on "Charlie's
Angels" in at least three episodes, usually as the guy who broke her
heart in the end.
They were married from 1978-1981.
