Hundreds Lined Up In Saugus For 'Twilight' Star

An estimated 500 fans were already in line outside the Square One Mall Thursday night, in anticipation of Robert Pattinson's appearance Friday evening.

By 9 p.m. Thursday night hundreds of people were already eagerly waiting in line to get an autograph from the star of the soon to be released vampire film "Twilight," based on the popular books.

Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen in the film.

Because of the large crowds, mall security was stepped up. Doors opened at 7 a.m., and 25 fans were allowed inside the mall at a time to buy wristbands to get an autograph,
Wicked Local Saugus reported.
Saugus police are also expected to be present during the signing and the question and answer session.
Even though Pattinson isn't scheduled to show up until 6 p.m. Friday, determined fans stood and sat in the rain Thursday night outside the mall. The event is set to take place at Hot Topic inside the mall.
A similar event scheduled in San Francisco last week was cancelled by police when the crowd of thousands - mostly teenage girls – got too rowdy. Representatives from the Square One Mall told WBZ Radio on Friday morning that they have been working with local police, and are prepared for the crowds.
WHO IS PATTINSON?
Pattinson previously starred as Cedric in the Harry Potter films. His new film, Twilight, is a modern-day love story between a teenage girl and a vampire. The film is based on the first book in the
series by Stephenie Meyer.
In addition to signing autographs, Pattinson will answer questions from fans.
Pattinson co-stars with
Kristin Stewart, who played roles in "Jumper" and "The Messengers."
'Twilight' opens in theatres on Nov. 21.
