Harvard student Justin White tries Le Whif

So how does this sound to you?
All the decadent pleasures of chocolate, but none of the calories.
A new invention, created at Harvard University, actually makes that possible.
It's called "Le Whif."
Professor David Edwards, a professor of biomedical engineering, explained his invention this way: "Le Whif is eating by breathing. It's inhaled chocolate. It's chocolate without the calories. It's delicious. It's surprising. It's fun."
Anthropology student Justin White needed to take a few puffs before he got the hang of it.
But once the chocolate powder dispersed in his mouth, he liked it.
Professor Edwards doesn't consider himself a real life "Willy Wonka", but admits some of the same themes apply to his story.
In a sense, he is a man who may dazzle the world with an interesting new confection.
In real life, he's known more for revolutionizing the delivery of medicines thru aerosols.
He says Le Whif is also a huge experiment.
Le Whif is a small cartridge filled with chocolate powder.
It's designed so the powder goes to the sides of the mouth, not the back of the throat.
The particle size of the powder is also important.
Edwards says the particles are too large to get into the lungs, so there is no danger of inhaling those particles.
Harvard student Windsor Hanger says she could get hooked on Le Whif fast.
"It's actually a chocolaty sensate. It's more than just a taste. There's an actual substance going into your mouth, and it's delicious."
Justin says it's enough to help him curb any temptation he has for real chocolate.
We tempted him with a Nestle Crunch Bar, but he didn't take the bait.
Professor Edwards says this could be just the beginning to this approach to "eating."
He said that even inhaled steak or tomatoes are a possibility down the road.
Le Whif is sold online right now and is expected to be in stores early next year.
