Rise In Farmers Markets Good For Local Growers
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
A rise in the number of farmers markets throughout Massachusetts is good news for local farmers.
The farmers market season is kicking off and usually runs through November. Many of the state's 188 markets are already open with others set to open between now and early July.

Once again this year, Massachusetts is seeing an increase in the number of farmers markets, the Department of Agricultural Resources said, with 28 new markets opening throughout the state.
The markets are an outlet for consumers to get easy access to fresh, nutritious, local grown food all summer long.
Buying locally grown produce is also more environmentally friendly.
