Do Vegan Treats Measure Up In Taste And Nutrition?

As far as health goes, vegan treats may be a better choice for snacking than the regular treats, but their tastes and nutrition facts may differ greatly.
Cookies, brownies and cakes are all a junk fund junkie's panacea and many of them are now made veganwithout any animal products.
"A vegan diet can be very healthy," said Kathy McManus, a dietician at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
McManus said vegan diets are healthier because they are generally low in unhealthy fats.

A vegan donut has about 310 calories; a regular donut has about 360 calories. The vegan donut is also considerably lower in fat, but does have move sugar.
We had McManus look at several different brands of cookies, brownies and chips.
"[Vegan products] can be more healthful than traditional products," she said.
One of the vegan cookies we tested was actually higher in calories and fat, and the serving size was only half the cookie.
Click here for some Vegan Food Recipes. The real test came when we brought a tray of samples to the Gold's Gym in Arlington. Just about every one of the tasters said they'd rather have the real thing.
The bottom line is that some vegan treats might be a better choice, but it's important to read the labels carefully.
