Fourth Annual Miles for Miracles Raises $680,000

2,400 Walkers Hit the Charles Raising Money for Life-Saving Care for Kids

Thousands of people touched by Children's Hospital Boston gathered for a scenic stroll along the Charles River on June 11 at Miles for Miracles. The hospital's fourth annual pledge walk joined patients, families, friends and hospital staff together for a great cause-life-saving care for kids throughout New England and around the world.

CBS4 news anchor Lisa Hughes and WBZ-AM's Anthony Silva were joined by the Boston Celtics Tony Allen, Dwayne Jones and Delonte West and Managing Partner and Governor Wyc Grousbeck for the opening ceremonies, as they sent walkers off down the Esplanade on the 7- and 2-mile pledge walks. Each participant pledged to raise a minimum of $100 for the hospital.

In three years, Miles for Miracles has raised more than $1.5 million for Children's Hospital. This year, $680,000 has been raised to date with money still pouring in. Funds from the walk support patient care, medical research, recruitment and training, and community health initiatives.
