Study: Mass. Among Slimmest States In Nation

BOSTON (WBZ) ― It's time for the nation's annual obesity rankings and, outside of fairly lean Colorado and Massachusetts, there's little good news.

Obesity rates among adults rose in 23 states over the past year and didn't decline anywhere, according to a new report from theĀ Trust for America's Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

Colorado had the lowest rate of obese adults, at 18.9 percent, followed by Massachusetts, 21.2 percent; and Connecticut, 21.3 percent.

Mississippi had the highest rate of adult obesity, 32.5 percent, for the fifth year in a row.

Mississippi also had the highest rate of overweight and obese children, at 44.4 percent.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has long said that nearly a third of Americans are obese.
