Lose Weight With The Vice-Busting Diet
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
The weight loss roller coaster is often derailed by the foods we love, like ice cream and junk food, but now there's a new recipe to fight off those fattening food vices.
Julia Griggs Havey once weighed over 300 pounds, but lost 130. "Finally realized, well, I don't need a diet I need to quit eating some of the junk that I eat," she said.
Julia says eating in moderation didn't work for her. There was no way she could eat just a little ice cream, so she decided to give it up all together. "It's been probably 13 years since I've had even a bit of ice cream and it's changed my life."
She calls it the "vice-busting" diet.
The first target -- soft drinks. A 42-ounce soda contains the equivalent to 29 sugar packets!
Julia recommends replacing the soda vice with water. She recommends carrying a water bottle with you everywhere you go, "It helps them have more energy, feel better. It helps them not be as hungry. Water is truly nature's best appetite suppressant."
And when it comes to eating, you have to identify your food vice -- is it a specific food, like chocolate, or a food habit, like too many types of bread throughout the day. "One at a time, yes, cold turkey, never have them. If it's not a vice, you don't need to break it."
Julia also says don't sabotage your diet. Don't tell anyone that you're dieting and throw away all temptations.
Havey has set up a Web site with free diet advice.
