Better Shopping Deals May Come After Black Friday
DALLAS (CBS) ―
We've all heard about the good deals on Black Friday, but is this the best weekend to hit the malls for bargains? There are some great buys to be found right now, but not all of the good bargains may be this weekend, CBS station KTVT-TV reported.
Consumers are spending the most on gift cards followed by apparel, electronics and toys. But some shoppers are waiting to make their purchases.
"I think the retailers are cutting prices once they see the numbers from Black Friday," shopper Roy Barnhart suggested.
Shopper Peter Barrett so far isn't impressed by the sales offerings."A lot of stores seem to be priced the same and don't offer any discounts. It depends on what store you're shopping at," he said.
Here's what some experts recommend:
For low-end and no-name electronics, shop Black Friday weekend. For brand-name electronics: wait a while. If Black Friday sales aren't great, deeper discounts should appear on December 10.
Shop for toys Dec. 4 -- three weeks before Christmas. That's when stores and manufacturers will see what's selling and what's not.
The best time to shop for clothes is on Friday. Try to shop on Dec. 5, 12 and 19. Saturday evening is the best time to shop for housewares, in time for Sunday circulars. Some other great deals to watch for include Borders' bargains, including 40 percent off bestsellers and big discounts on toys and jewelry at K-Mart.
