Gov. Deval Patrick will ask state regulators to investigate why public utility
Unitil Corp. took so long to restore power to Massachusetts consumers after an
ice storm hit the region.
Spokesman Kyle Sullivan says Patrick and Lt. Gov. Timothy Murray spoke with senior Unitil executives Saturday to reiterate their concern and demand swifter action.
The company says at least 3,783 Massachusetts customers were without power Sunday in Fitchburg, Lunenburg, Townsend and Ashby -- nine days after the ice storm left hundreds of thousands of consumers without power.
The company says National Grid teams will help out Unitil workers Sunday.
Once power has been restored fully, Patrick will ask the Department of Public Utilities to conduct an investigation into why it took Unitil so long to restore power.
