Lawmakers Unite Against I-93 Border Tolls

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Legislators from New Hampshire and Massachusetts are planning to gather on the steps of the Massachusetts State House to announce bipartisan opposition to proposed border tolls on Interstate 93.

More than 100 members of the New Hampshire legislature have signed onto the effort launched by New Hampshire State Rep. Frank Sapareto and Massachusetts State Sen. Robert Hedlund. Hedlund is the ranking member of Massachusetts' Committee on Transportation.

Several members of the Border Coalition will meet on the State House steps at noon on Monday to voice their opposition to new toll booths.

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick has proposed putting tolls at the New Hampshire border, and New Hampshire Transportation Commissioner George Campbell has proposed putting toll booths in Salem in the southbound lane of I-93.
