Missing Lawrence Soldier Honored At POW-MIA Race

BOSTON (WBZ) ― The fate of a Massachusetts soldier missing in Iraq was highlighted today during the 24th annual walk and race for troops Missing In Action and those taken as Prisoners of War.

Army Specialist Alex Jimenez of Lawrence has been missing since his unit was attacked by insurgents in Iraq last month.

Participants at Boston's 24th annual race and walk for P-O-W-and-M-I-A wore red ribbons with his name alongside their running number.

The event is intended to remind the public of the uncertain fate of soldiers Missing In Action or those being held as Prisoners of War.

Last week, immigration offiicals said they are working to terminate removal proceedings against Jimenez' wife.

Yaderlin Hiraldo was facing possible deportation because she had entered the U.S. illegally back in 2001.

Senators Kerry and Kennedy reached out to the DHS and other immigration officials upon learning of Yaderlin's situation.
