A Boston Police officer will not face criminal charges in a crash that killed a young woman in South Boston last year.
Ann-Marie McNally, 36, was driving alone on West Broadway Nov. 10, 2007 when a police cruiser driven by officer Jesse Stots, who was responding to a call, crashed into her, sending her car airborne. She died instantly. Stots survived.
The results of a nine-month investigation released Wednesday showed Stots's lights and sirens were on and he was driving just over 50 miles per hour when he swerved to avoid McNally's car at an intersection, but ended up slamming into her driver's side door.
Suffolk District Attorney Dan Conley said Wednesday McNally also did nothing wrong.
"The evidence is clear that Ms. McNally acted cautiously and reasonably and bears no responsibility for the collision," he said.
Conley wants the Boston Police Department to review its policies related to emergency calls.
