Driver Killed In Boston Police Crash Identified

The crash occurred in the area of West Broadway and D Street in South Boston at about 1 p.m. Saturday.

The woman who was killed Saturday when her car was struck by a Boston police cruiser has been identified. along with the police officer who was operating the cruiser.
The cruiser, operating with active lights and siren, struck 36-year-old Annemarie McNally's Saab while responding to an unrelated call Saturday afternoon in South Boston.
The officer who was driving the cruiser was Officer Jesse Stots.
McNally, who was from Braintree, was rushed to Boston Medical Center, where she later died.
State police detectives and accident reconstruction specialists are investigating. Witnesses said the woman had the green light at the intersection.
No charges have been filed.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with (the family) right now," Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley said.
Boston police have been involved in more than 700 accidents over the past three years. In those crashes, 38 people and 94 officers were injured. The total cost of the repair to the police cruisers is nearly 500,000.
Nationwide, 350 people are killed each year in police pursuits. Of those, about one third are innocent bystanders.
