A fierce 4-alarm fire tore though a seafood warehouse in South Boston overnight, destroying the building.
About 120 Boston firefighters were needed to battle the heavy smoke and flames that broke out at the Atlantic Seas Pride warehouse around 1:30 a.m.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries, and officials say the warehouse is a total loss. They estimate the fire was the size of a football field, and it took two and a half hours to knock it out.
The warehouse is located on Old Colony Avenue just north of Andrew Square. It's a seafood wholesaler and distribution center.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire officials say it took quite some time before it was deemed safe for investigators to enter the building.
Damage is estimated at $2 million.
