Baby Found Dead Inside Garbage Truck In Milford

BOSTON (CBS4) ― A newborn baby weighing approximately three to five pounds was found dead inside a garbage truck on the corner of Purchase and Camp Streets in Milford Saturday morning.

Police are examining the truck for evidence and are asking that the mother come forward.

The body was found by DPW workers only after it was tossed into the BFI garbage truck. Police are not saying if the baby is a boy or a girl.

At first neighbors had no idea why police were in the area but when they found out it was about a baby it the garbage, they were horrified.

"They asked me if I knew anyone in the neighborhood who was pregnant," said neighbor Melanie Lombarto. "I don't know of anything. It's very sad becasue there are so many people out there who can't have children and who would have loved to have that baby."

An autopsy will be conducted on Sunday.
