The mother of a newborn found dead in a Milford garbage truck back in January has been arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Allissa Pugh, 28, of Milford, is also charged with improper disposal of a body. She's scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Worcester Superior Court.
The infant's body was found by DPW workers on January 6. The placenta and umbilical cord were still attached.
The indictments allege Pugh delivered a full-term boy in her home and placed the baby in a trash bag.
At the time, Pugh told investigators the baby was stillborn.
Worcester District Attorney Joseph Early says the medical examiner's report shows the infant died of injuries sustained around the time of birth.
Investigators said they do not plan to file charges against the baby's father.
If convicted, Pugh could be sentenced to up to 20 years on the manslaughter charge and up to 3 years on the improper disposal of a body charge.
