Arson Suspected In Baker House Fire

DORCHESTER (WBZ) ― A fire at a well-known home for high-risk teens and their families in Dorchester appears to have been intentionally set.

Flames broke out at the Ella J. Baker House on Washington Street around 10 p.m. Wednesday and caused extensive damage to the rear of the building. No one was hurt.

In a statement issued Thursday, Leonard Lee, the chairman of the board of directors, said the fire won't stop their mission of serving the youth of Boston.

"We will not be deterred by this setback," Lee said. "We urge anyone who may have information about the origins of this fire to contact authorities. If indeed this turns out to be a case of arson, we will not be swayed from our commitment to those we serve."
