David Ortiz is officially in the restaurant business.
"Big Papi's Grille" opens to the public Friday.
It's on Route 9 in Framingham in the same building as the old Metro 9 Steak House.
Peter Sarmanian, the former owner of Metro 9 is now a partner with Ortiz, who attended the red carpet opening Thursday night
"We decided to open a place that people can come and, without spending a lot of money, they can have a good meal and with their family, have fun, get to know the other part of myself, my teammates," said Ortiz.
"I'm going to be bringing my teammates once in awhile around here and have fun."
