Holy Cross Honors Cousy With Statue
WORCESTER (WBZ) ―
The College of the Holy Cross honored one of its famous graduates Saturday with a statue.
Celtics legend
Bob Cousy is now immortalized outside the Hart Recreation Center on campus with a life-size bronze statue.
Watch Cousy's speech hereCousy graduated from Holy Cross in 1950. He was a three-time All American and won a national championship there in 1947.
He played for the Celtics from 1951 to 1963, winning six NBA championships.
In a statement, the school said it wanted to honor Cousy "not only for his extraordinary basketball career at Holy Cross and with the Boston Celtics, but also for his generous and long-term commitment to the citizenry of Worcester and for his efforts to integrate the NBA racially during its early years."
