A teen driver has been charged with motor vehicle homicide for fatally striking a wrestling teammate with his car after pulling behind him during apparent horseplay.
David Hayden was driving the car that hit and killed 19-year-old Frank DeMeo as he was jogging in Bolton in an effort to lose weight before a match.
The 17-year-old Hayden was released on personal recognizance after pleading not guilty during his arraignment Tuesday at Clinton District Court.
Police said Hayden was driving with two other teammates when they came upon DeMeo and pulled behind him. The teens attended Nashoba Regional High School in Bolton.
DeMeo's father, Anthony DeMeo, has said the way his son died was "senseless" and a case of fooling around going too far. But he said he forgives Hayden.
