Young Cancer Patients To Cheer On Marathon Matches

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Dozens of runners participating in the Boston Marathon to raise money for cancer met their 'Patient Partners' Saturday.

The Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge runners met their young matches, who will cheer them on at the 25-mile marker of the Boston Marathon. Some of the young patients will even join their running partners to run the last mile of the marathon.

All money raised by the Dana-Farber runners goes to the Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research.

Most of the runners have in some way been touched by cancer in their lives and are dedicating their 26-mile run in the Boston Marathon to help fight the battle against cancer.

The children who the runners were paired up with are all current or former Jimmy Fund clinic patients.
