Victoria Snelgrove Was Killed By A Pepper Pellet That Night
Boston Police made video available Wednesday afternoon, of officers actions on the night Victoria Snelgrove was killed. The college student was hit in the eye with a pepper pellet, fired by Boston police.
Prosecutors also released new documents Wednesday clarifying the role of the Boston Police Officer who fired the deadly shot during the Red Sox pennant celebration last October.
The officer says he was trying to shoot a man who was throwing things at police.
Instead, he hit Victoria Snelgrove in the eye with a pepper pellet, killing her.
The Suffolk County District Attorney's Office made hundreds of documents, video tape, and audio tape in the Snelgrove investigation public.
They show in extensive detail the chaos, confusion, and breakdown of communication that night.
In one document, Boston Police Officer Rochefort Milien explains he was trying to hit a man who had been throwing things at officers.
According to an interview with Milien, the man was ducking in and out of the crowd on Lansdowne Street.
Milien fired when he thought he had a clear shot at the man.
Instead, he hit Snelgrove, a 21-year-old Emerson College student, killing her.
Snelgrove's autopsy was also part of the documents.
It shows that the pellet hit her left eye, broke the bone behind it, and damaged her brain.
Last week, prosecutors announced they would not bring criminal charges against any of the officers involved.
The officers were hit with suspensions, demotions or reprimands.
