Rain And Snow Dampen Evening Commute
BOSTON (WBZ) ―
Rain and snow fell across southern New England during rush hour Tuesday evening. The wet conditions lasted for several hours.
Northern New England saw several inches of snow.
WBZ meteorologists said the rain was expected to taper off by midnight. It came down heavy at times, creating localized flooding in some areas. Morning drivers should also be cautious of black ice Wednesday.
Communities north of the Massachusetts Turnpike were expected to see an icy mix that could end up as one-to-two inches of snow. Most of it turned to rain after 7 p.m.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory Tuesday evening for northern Worcester County and parts of Franklin and Hampshire counties in western Massachusetts.
Several counties in New Hampshire were under a winter storm warning. It will snow heavily until early Wednesday in northern New England, where they can expect four-to-eight inches in ski areas in Vermont and New Hampshire.
The sky will start to clear up Wednesday. It will be partly sunny with temperatures in the 30's.
