The first-ever Massachusetts breast cancer license plates have been manufactured and are now ready to hit the road.
"We are thrilled to have finally achieved our goal of getting this plate on the road. Thank you to the 1,517 people who believed in us and supported this effort. This plate means so much to so many people," said Deb McNeill, one of the leaders for the license plate project, who is also a breast cancer survivor.
The cost of the plate is $40 and they will be available to the general public at RMV branches beginning Friday, November 10. They will also be available online beginning Wednesday, November 29 by accessing
www.Mass.gov/rmv.
The "special" plate fee is tax deductible.
"The Registry of Motor Vehicles couldn't be more pleased to issue the plate just in time for national breast cancer awareness month," said Registrar of Motor Vehicles Anne Collins. "Now the drivers of Massachusetts can show their hope of eradicating this awful disease by purchasing one of these license plates."
All proceeds from the license plate will benefit the Diane Connolly-Zaniboni Breast Cancer Research Fund at Tufts New England Medical Center.
