Former Providence Mayor Vincent "Buddy" Cianci is expected to become a free man just after midnight this coming Saturday.
The disgraced politician has been placed in home confinement until July 28th, when he'll be released from federal custody.
The Providence Journal reports that Cianci could potentially be allowed to set himself free by snipping off his own electronic monitoring ankle bracelet.
The Barnstable County Sheriff's Office in Massachusetts handles the electronic monitoring for the Bureau of Prisons. That agency will determine who will remove the ankle bracelet.
Cianci was released from a prison in New Jersey in May. He's been working at a sales and marketing job at a Providence condominium complex.
