Rare Whale Found Stranded In Dennis

DENNIS (CBS4) ― A rare whale was put to sleep after it was found stranded in Dennis on Sunday. The ten-foot long, 800 pound Pygmy Sperm Whale was apparently very weak when it was discovered by the Cape Cod Stranding Network.

Officials did a health assessment and determined they had to put the female whale down. The Cape Cod Stranding Network said they have no rehab facilities available for these whales.

The whale will be taken to a lab in Woods Hole to find out why it was stranded.
