Police Dismiss Rockefeller Sighting In Caribbean

Slideshow: Rockefeller Kidnapping Mystery

Mother's Plea For Daughter's Return Could Have Hidden Message

BOSTON (WBZ) ― Boston police dismissed several witness reports on Friday that a high-society man who allegedly abducted his 7-year-old daughter was spotted in the Caribbean the day before.

Employees at an auto store and at a convenience store said they recognized Clark Rockefeller and his daughter Reigh Boss from photos as the people they helped the day before, Turks and Caicos Sgt. Calvin Chase said Friday.

But the sightings were investigated and found not to be credible, Boston Police spokesman Eddy Chrispin said.

"It definitely was not him," Chrispin said.

Reigh's mother, Sandra Boss, made a plea to Rockefeller to return their daughter to her.  At the end of the short video-taped message that she posted on YouTube, Sandra spoke to her daughter.

"Reigh, honey, I love you and miss you so much.  Remember you're always a princess."

"When I heard her say to the daughter 'remember you're always a princess,' my head snapped back," said attorney Gerald Nissenbaum.

Nessenbaum is one of Boston's most high-powered divorces lawyers.  He has been closely following the Reigh Rockefeller abduction and said he thinks there may be more to Sandra's message than meets the eye.

Nissenbaum said he believes "princess" may be a code word for Reigh meaning everything is not OK.

"The daughter would know if I call you 'princess,' if Daddy takes you, and later on you find out or hear that I called you princess, that means that I did not agree to this -- that I am here. I am alive and waiting for you to call," Nissenbaum explained.

Rockefeller and his daughter were last seen at New York City's Grand Central Terminal on Sunday, hours after he allegedly ran off with her during a supervised visit. The girl has been living in London with her mother.

Police initially suspected Rockefeller was trying to flee to Bermuda or Peru on a yacht docked in Long Island. But authorities say he may have planted false clues to throw off investigators. Many other reported sightings have been made, but none have panned out.

Nessenbaum said it is very rare to see divorce spouses kidnapping children but it does happen.

That's why he recommends code words for his clients.  As far as Rockefeller goes, Nissenbaum said he could be very unpredictable and Reigh could be in peril.

"The ultimate way to keep the child from the mother, frankly, is to kill the child.  That's my biggest concern," he said. "That child's biggest danger is when the authorities close in on him."

Nissenbaum said he has a clause in all of his contracts that if a client ever kidnaps a child, the attorney-client privilege is waived, and Nissenbaum will go straight to police.

Rockefeller bought $300,000 in gold coins from a precious metals dealer in Arlington a few weeks ago.  The dealer told WBZ Rockefeller used the name Clark Rock. He said he had recently won a patient lawsuit and was investing the money in gold.
