Lexington Father Reaches Deal, Avoids Trial

CONCORD (CBS4) ― A father who was arrested at his son's elementary school in Lexington has reached a deal with prosecutors to avoid a trial.

David Parker confronted administrators at the Estabrook Elementary School last April about a book that showed same-sex parents.

His 6-year-old son came home from kindergarten with the book called "Who's In A Family", which showed different kinds of families, including one with two fathers.

Parker went to the school to complain and when he wouldn't leave, he was arrested and charged with tresspassing.

In Concord District Court Thursday morning, prosecutors and Parker's attorney announced they had a reached a deal that gives Parker one year of pre-trial probation. That means, if he stays out of trouble for the next year, the tresspassing charge will be dismissed and his record will be cleared.

The judge accepted the agreement.
