The recently retired Doug Flutie is being honored by Wheaties. The former Boston College Eagle and New England Patriot is on the cover of a new special-edition Wheaties box.
"It's a tremendous privilege for me to join the list of legendary quarterbacks who have appeared on the Wheaties box through the years," Flutie said in a statement. "I'm very honored to be on the cover of the 'Breakfast of Champions' package and to share the ultimate achievement with my family."
Flutie is also an ambassador for the Wheaties "Fit To Win" Challenge, a fitness program designed to help people get back on track through proper nutrition and physical fitness.
The Natick native announced his retirement from the Patriots in May. Flutie spent 21 years in professional football and won the Heisman Trophy following his senior season at Boston College in 1984.
Flutie is now a college football analyst for A-B-C and E-S-P-N.
