The Waltham man accused of paying a hit man to kill his estranged wife's boyfriend has been convicted of murder and conspiracy.
James Brescia was found guilty in the January 2006 murder of Edward Schiling, 39, of Framingham. Brescia was not in the courtroom when the verdict was read because he suffered a stroke Monday night, according to his defense attorney.
Prosecutors say Brescia paid $10,000 to ex-convict Scott Foxworth of Dracut to fatally shoot a man who was dating his estranged wife, Stacey.
The body of Schiller was found on Jan. 13, 2006 slumped behind the wheel of his car in a private parking garage near his office at Aronson Insurance Co. in Newton.
Prosecutors said Brascia thought he could fix his relationship with his wife with Schiller out of the way.
Foxworth, who served four years in prison for a 1978 murder, will face a separate trial in October.
