Animals To Be Adopted In Epping, NH Murder Case
EPPING, NH (CBS) ―
Shiela LaBarre, the 47-year-old woman accused of killing, then burning Kenneth Countie at her farm in Epping, New Hampshire, has given up the animals living on her farm.
LaBarre's animals -- seized by the state last month -- are available for adoption through the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Stratham.
In a gruesome case that has shocked the nation, sometime around March 21, LaBarre allegedly murdered the 24-year-old Countie, setting his body on fire.
Police searching her 115-acre farm on March 25 said they found Countie's blood on a knife and bone fragments near piles of burned ground.
Court documents state that when police asked about Countie, LaBarre, who was arrested in Revere, Massachusetts on April 2nd on a first-degree murder charge, responded, "He's in that bag."
LaBarre, who describes herself as a devoted Baptist, has complained that she has been unfairly portrayed in the media. In a letter to her friend she wrote: "I am innocent and God knows that I am."
