Lawmakers are expected to unveil legislation on Tuesday that will ban tankers from using rotaries in Everett.
This legislation comes less than one month after a tanker truck carrying 9,400 gallons of gasoline overturned in the Sweetser Circle rotary In Everett. The truck exploded, sending a river of fire down Main Street, destroying two triple-deckers and forcing more than 100 people into the street in the bitter cold.
Luckily, no one was seriously hurt.
According to Everett Mayor John Hanlon, 47 people were left homeless by the fire.
So far, the driver of the tanker truck, Chad LaFrance of Dover, New Hampshire, has only been cited for speeding. Although the Middlesex County District Attorney's Office says he could face additional criminal charges.
