In federal court Wednesday, the testimony of a dead FBI agent will take center stage.
Lawyers for four men wrongfully convicted for a mob hit will enter the congressional testimony of disgraced FBI agent H. Paul Rico.
In 2001 Rico testified before Congress about his role in sending four men to prison for a 1965 murder they did not commit. Teddy Deegan was gunned down in Chelsea and three years later, Rico's FBI informant, Joe Barboza, lied about Joe Salvati, Peter Limone, and two others who died in prison.
On Wednesday afternoon, a federal judge will hear Congressional testimony entered into evidence. Five and a half years ago, Rico acknowledged Salvati's innocence. Rico has since died.
In the 1970s, Rico left the FBI and went to work elsewhere. In the 1980s, the owner of the company he was working for was murdered and more than 20 years later, Rico was indicted for setting up that murder. He died in jail awaiting trial.
